Troop 962G was established in 2021 with Scoutmaster Shannon W., Assistant Scoutmaster Carrie G. and our Troop Founders, The Squishy Panda Cats: Mackenzie, Acadia, Mischief, Laura and Izzy. Our Chartered Organization is the Lovettsville | Waterford Ruritan Club.
We've continuously added to our numbers, establishing two Patrols, where once there was one; The Princess Rats and The Proper Snails. We expect with upcoming crossovers, to establish our first New Scout Patrol soon!
Ages 11-17, the majority of our Scouts are homeschoolers, but we pull from our local Pack 962 at Lovettsville Elementary School, Harmony Middle School, Woodgrove and Loudoun Valley High Schools. As the only Western Loudoun County, Virginia Scouts BSA Troop for girls, we have Scouts from Lovettsville, Waterford, Purcellville, Point of Rocks, Maryland and beyond!
Meetings are weekly, Monday nights at 7PM at the Old Waterford Schoolhouse Auditorium. (Unless there is no (public) school on Tuesday, then meetings are automatically cancelled.) There is a monthly campout, as well as additional activities, ranging from District Events, Hikes, Service Projects, Fundraisers or any assortment of outing the Scouts decide would be exciting that month. We attend Summer Camp a week each year and are planning our first High Adventure Trip to Philmont in 2026! We hold a Court of Honor to celebrate all their achievements at least three times a year, usually Spring, after Summer Camp in the late Summer or Early Fall, then Winter.
Citizenship and our communities are a key element of our program. As such, we've been very involved with the Town of Lovettsville, supporting local community events, parades, flag ceremonies and more! In fact, much of the community knows our Troop from face painting for both the Town and the Ruritans at some of their events, like the Eggstravaganza and National Night Out for the past few years. When we're not working with our community on a whole, we're also very active with our little brother and sister Pack 962, with whom we share a Chartered Organization with.
